Innate

01

Every human is born with a given set of tangible and intangible characteristics. Yet, these innate traits are constantly being discriminated.

People are often judged for things that they cannot change.

The black paint symbolises ignorance that can be ‘wiped’ away with education and awareness while the embossed letters symbolises the innate characteristic of each individual. In the series, the photographer explores the idea of words in context. The same word can possess the power of both identity and derogatory nuances. Through this project, the artist hopes to help individuals to amplify their voices to counter hate and promote tolerance. Both explicit and implicit bias can be hard to eradicate but every small step is a step forward. With this work, more people can listen, share and build a healthy community through stories, promoting awareness, tolerance and empathy. Stop hate, spread love.
